ElsieAnn Panyin's dive into cybersecurity
Ghana
I'm ElsieAnn Panyin Quarm, a Ghanaian from Accra. The second daughter of five children. I studied computer science at the University of Ghana, Legon . Since I was a teenager, working in the IT sector has always been a dream of mine but I was unsure of what career path to take while I was in school. In addition to my degree in school, I also attended online courses in web programming and UI/UX design. Even though I was studying them, I wasn't very enthusiastic about those sectors. I didn't realise that information security was the subject I wanted to enter until one day I heard about Information Security.
To jump-start my career in cyber security, I began taking online courses. On a typical day, I was surfing through Twitter when I came across a message from HailAtutor about a cybersecurity scholarship program. Without knowing if I would be chosen, I applied right away. I was so anxious and looked forward to receiving a positive response.
Afterwards, I received an email from HailAtutor letting me know that I had been chosen for the program. I was super excited. The program has been incredibly educational thus far. There are days when I don't really have the motivation to study because of work and other obligations, but I remember my passion for cyber security and make the effort to at least try to study something. I now have greater knowledge, understanding, and enthusiasm about cyber security thanks to the online courses I've taken, as well as the mentoring sessions. We have the privilege to listen and connect with professionals from around the world, isn't that amazing?. It has been a wonderful journey so far. I am excited to continue on my cyber security journey. Thank you HailATutor for being a positive light in my story.
